The importance of enterpreneural skills to youths
Related to country: Nigeria

There are a lot of opportunities in this world for people to explore especially for the youths because they are still young and agile. In this country so many youths still belong to the school of thought that says one should be born, go to school, get a job, marry, have kids and die. There is no flexibility. What about making a mark in the society or leaving something that you will be remembered for. There are a lot of micro finance companies springing up daily.I think they should move closer to the youths, partner with schools(secondary and university), let these enterpreneural skills be taught as subject right from secondary level so that when these youths finish school, thry will not have to wait for yearsto get jobs or roam the streets with their certificates. At the point of graduation, they should already be self dependent. The degree is important but should not be relied solely upon. One could become lazy because he has at the back of his mind that he has a degree and can always get a job but when the job is not forthcoming he blames the government.
A greater asset than our education which we have is our mind. We have the power to do whatever we believe in our minds. We also need determination. We should believe in ourselves and imbibe the can do spirit. It was determination that led Bill Gates out of high school to pursue his dream and today his is one of the richest men in the world. We need to be flexible and not to think only in one direction. If our youths in this country apply these, they will give less of their time to crime and other nefarious activities. Thank you.

THE NEED FOR EMPHASIS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF LIBRARIES AMONG NIGERIAN YOUTHS
Related to country: Nigeria

Libraries are major sources of information, it is very important especially in under developed countries where they are most needed. It is a major factor of self development and knowledge building. The libraries offer information from various aspects of life to the end users.
We have public libraries established by the government so that the masses can have access to all kind of information. These libraries can be categorised into the National, state and public libraries.
Knowledge is power and the agency for promoting its disseminations are libraries, they are key elements in effecting social change worthy of transforming a society from rural to urban. The information from libraries are needed by administrators to enable them take decisions in their various organisations. The need for libraries are endless so therefore if any nation has to combat illiteracy and ignorance, libraries should be a very important tool.
A lot of emphasis should be placed on the need for libraries especially among youths in Africa. Nigeria is a country that still has a lot of work to do in terms of education. If the need for libraries are well emphasised in Nigeria it can go a long way in developing the youths. There is alot of information they can lay their hands on which can change their lives for good. These days a lot of them go into activities that bring about social unrest i.e. cultism, armed robbery e.t.c. when there are various fields they can read about and harness. The library is one place where they can find information that can turn their lives around.
Visit a library today and be more learned.

NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES
Related to country: Nigeria

NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES

Our country Nigeria has got a lot of higher institutions especially universities, but still the nation is struggling to improve on the quality of graduates produced at the end of every academic year. Nowadays you can see graduates who can hardly express themselves i.e. speak good and comprehensible English. Many of them do not really understand what life is all about. A university is not a place where you only learn about the course you want to study but also a training ground where you learn how to face life’s challenges. It’s a place where you are groomed into a total man or woman.
The question still is why is the situation so with all the universities we have in Nigeria? Maybe the problem is that all these universities do not take their time to really mould these young men and women into what they are supposed to be and not what many of them are. Many of these schools are ill equipped, you can see a graduate of computer science who does not know how to operate a computer or has never even used one. Its not good for a great nation like this.
Except for the private universities springing up very rapidly and have what it takes to give quality education to the students but the issue is how many people can afford them? Some of them charge as much as three to five hundred thousand naira for one academic year, which is high for an average Nigeria student except for the rich in the society that can comfortably afford it.
The government has to ensure that all these things are put into place. With the new government that has spent a little over hundred and has done quite well, there is hope that all these ills in the society will be looked into. Just like the way the past administration embarked on refurbishing all the teaching hospitals in the country, the same should be done to the universities, with this there will be no need for our youths to go to other countries to get a university education as their hope in our Nigerian universities will be restored.

NIGERIAN ROADS
Related to country: Nigeria

Roads are built for the purposes of making vehicular movement from one place to another easier and also for the movement of goods to where they are needed. It is a major factor that can not be over looked in transportation. In Nigeria today we rely so much on roads.Road transportation is the most poular form of transportation in Nigeria but the poor state of these roads is alarming. This problem cuts across federal state and local roads. The federal roads for instance are the most important in the country, they connect major cities in the country e.g. Abuja, Lagos, Port-hacourt, Jos, Enugu,Kano e.t.c. and with the influx of people from other cities into these cities in search of greener pastures and also their returning back to their hometowns during festive seasons and transportation of large quantity of goods to these cities because of their well poulated nature these roads become very busy and also very important an example of such roads is the Lagos-Ore-Benin road. Motorists who ply these roads describe them as nightmares. They do not only make the journeys twice as long as they ought to be, they also provide a safe haven for armed robbers who take advantage of these bad spots to attack motorists and also the rate of accidents on these roads are increasing at an alarming rate, recently a commercial bus coming from Zamfara and another one coming from the opposite direction collided when the former in an attempt to avoid a pothole rammed into the latter at top speed causing the death of about nineteen people. If that pothole was not there the accident would not have occured. This is a very important area that needs to be looked into by the government if the they want the citizens to feel their good governance.
The new government is making positive moves towards repairing these roads but Nigerians are used to past administrations making promises about these roads but do not end up fullfiling the promises. This means that the present administration has a lot of work to do to win back the trust of the citizens of this great nation.
The state roads which are those roads that link different parts of a state should not also be left out because they are very important. I think if our roads in this country are at least 80-90% good, it will go a long way in improving the life of the common man because even the cost of goods will reduce because the traders who bring in the goods are affected by the state of these roads too.
